A Legacy Comes Home: Nick Acosta Brings His Real Estate Business Home to St. Petersburg
Many in St. Petersburg know the name Acosta by way of Bayfront Health St. Petersburg: Dr. Anthony Acosta was the emergency room medical director there for 46 years, until his death from cancer four years ago. Now, his son Nicholas Acosta has moved home to St. Petersburg, bringing his real estate business, Downtown Expert Realty LLC, along with him. Nick hopes to honor his family’s legacy by serving the St. Petersburg community with as much integrity and commitment as his father.
Nick launched Downtown Expert Realty LLC in Orlando in July 2020, to provide Florida families and businesses with expert, informed brokerage services. His passion for real estate, deep industry expertise, and devotion to his clients have helped to elevate the firm to a mainstay in the thriving Orlando real estate scene. Nick explains his vision for Downtown Expert Realty: “I want to create an experience like no other for my associates, customers, vendors, and everyone else that our firm interacts with.” Downtown Expert Realty provides associates creative freedom to pursue innovative strategies, and diversity and inclusion are central tenants of the organizational culture. “We pride ourselves on creating a culture that is truly inclusive,” Nick notes. “Diversity is a major component.” To share real estate insights with the world, Nick also records a weekly podcast, Home 2 All, a favorite listen among real estate professionals, vendors, and the general public.
Though business in Orlando was thriving, Nick felt the call to come home. He spent his childhood and young adulthood in idyllic St. Petersburg: he was born Thanksgiving Day, 1980, at Bayfront Health, the very hospital where his father Dr. Anthony Acosta worked as ER medical director for 46 years. When Nick’s mother tragically passed away when he was only five, leaving his heartbroken father as a single dad, the St. Petersburg community swept in to support the Acosta family, ensuring that Nick and his sister Kristina were surrounded by love. Nick graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy high school and earned a B.A. from USF St. Pete in Mass Communication Journalism.
He was drawn to real estate from a young age, inspired by his grandfather, a general contractor who built beautiful homes for his family members in South Tampa and Ybor City. Nick’s father owned real estate investment properties and taught his young son the importance of financial stewardship. It is his father’s legacy that he seeks to honor now. “My father was truly a healer,” Nick says. “He won many awards throughout his career, but his true mission was simply to care for his patients and his family in every way he could.” As a business owner, entrepreneur, and long-time member of the St. Petersburg community, Nicholas Acosta is on a mission to do the same.
By bringing Downtown Expert Realty to St. Petersburg, Nick aims to provide his hometown community with safe, comfortable places to live and work. His vision for diversity and inclusion extends beyond his business, to the community at large. “As an entrepreneur, I want to make sure we are creating affordable housing for everyone.
