St. Petersburg, FL – District 7 School Board Member Caprice Edmond Wednesday announced her bid for reelection to the seat she has held since November 2020.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve and I look forward to continuing to advocate for policies and practices that support all children and our district,” Edmond said. “I have more to offer as a school board member and strongly believe that I have been an asset to the students, community, and board.”
Edmond is a vocal supporter of equity in our schools. Informed by her experience in every facet of the Pinellas County School District – as a parent, educator, involved community member, and now school board member, Caprice has unique perspective into the challenges Pinellas County Schools face and intentionally seeks out opportunities to learn more about what children, families, and teachers need from the district.
“Every child can be successful, meet or exceed expectations with access to the appropriate resources and support necessary for them to thrive,” Edmond said. “By intentionally using our resources and looking at each child as an individual we can ensure there’s more equity in our educational system.”
Edmond successfully championed an effort to build consensus among her colleagues to participate in Equity Training and ensure the public was heard by adding virtual public comment to school board meetings during the Covid-19 pandemic. During her time as a board member Caprice has and will continue to advocate for school safety, academic success, family & community engagement, recruitment and retention of the best teachers in Florida.
The 2022 School Board Election takes place August 23, 2022. District 7 encompasses South St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Lealman and South Pasadena.
