Date Palms an Under Used Asset

When date palms were planted all over our fair city I guess they forgot that the crop is dates. Today these trees shed their bounty all over the streets and sidewalks. The date is a tasty and useful crop and perhaps the city could partner with a clever and resourceful person who will harvest and process and sell homegrown dates at our St Pete Pier or other market place. Perhaps Publix or Walmart would provide seed money to make this possible.
