Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille has donated $500 to CASA Pinellas, courtesy of money raised in October from a specialty drink promotion held in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Based in Pinellas County, CASA stands for Community Action Stops Abuse. The restaurant’s Jungle Terrace and St. Petersburg Pier locations created and sold the purple-tinged CASA Cooler, a cocktail featuring orange rum, lemonade, blue Curaçao, grenadine and Sprite.
“We are humbled to support CASA’s ‘Stand Up to Silence’ mission and help raise awareness for their vital work,” said Joe Harrity, a partner with HM Restaurant Group, the parent company of Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille. “We look forward to future collaborations that contribute to ending domestic violence.”
Founded in 1977, CASA is the official certified domestic violence center serving Pinellas and Marion counties. The nonprofit challenges societal acceptance of all forms of domestic violence through advocacy, prevention, intervention and support services. The organization operates the area’s 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter, support groups and additional services, including legal and housing assistance and school-aged anti-bullying programs.
