Performance Regattas Returns This Weekend to the St. Pete Pier
High-Performance Sailing Event Showcases Never-Been-Done Racing on Tampa Bay
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., March 3, 2026 – Performance Regattas returns to The Pier in downtown St. Petersburg this weekend with a high-performance sailing event featuring a fast-paced, tech-powered racing format designed as a true spectator sport.
Performance Regattas combines cutting-edge foiling technology, real-time data, and short, high-speed heats on a circular racetrack on the water. Sailors compete on identical foiling BirdyFish boats provided by the league and “fly” above the water.
This series maxes out with 15 two-person teams competing in a weekend-long elimination tournament. Several sailors who competed in January return with hopes of capturing the St. Petersburg series title, increased prize money, and a qualifying position in the season Grand Final scheduled for December in Pensacola.
The event marks the second stop of the eight-series 2026 Fast Eddie Cup and will be visible from the end of the St. Pete Pier. Racing takes place Friday, March 6, from 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. On Sunday, there will be activities at the end of the Pier, including giveaways and product sampling during the races.

Beyond individual events, Performance Regattas aims to build a national sailing ecosystem that includes professional racing circuits, youth development pathways, and fan engagement initiatives.
