June Bunch New Single “Morrison” Launches Listeners into Desert Soundscape
For fans of Billie Eilish or ears raised on Evanescence, June Bunch releases “Morrison” on July 4, an ode to Moab carrying comparable siren-esque tones. Her words come clear and close to your ear, singing, “Evaporate who I’d been…Just blood, red rock, and wind”, accompanied by warbling strings and synth. The soundscape expands into lilting interjections, featuring bursts of percussion building and falling back into echoes between verses.
“The idea is to emulate canyon walls”, according to Bunch, who titled the song after the Morrison Formation, a Jurassic landscape near Bunch’s former home in Moab, UT. She effectively paints a scorching picture for listeners, directing lines to Morrison like a letter, and ends with a whirling round of crescendo that trails to a mirage of silence.
The track debuts July 4th on all streaming platforms, with free downloads available throughout July on www.junebunch.bandcamp.com/track/morrison. For more information, visit www.junebunch.com or email junebunchmusic@gmail.com.
