MediaWise and AARP Present Voting Resources to Determine Misinformation
“How to Get MediaWise for the Midterms”
October 27, 2022, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT,
In-person at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies
TAMPA, Fla. — The spread of misinformation around the United States is dangerous to our democracy. According to recent survey results released by MediaWise, the digital media literacy initiative of the nonprofit Poynter Institute, 47 percent of Americans see false or misleading information daily. Without truth and accountability within our democracy, it is doomed to fail. As we draw closer to the midterms, election misinformation is the utmost concern, and it is time to empower all generations on media literacy to save democracy.
To eliminate the spread of misinformation, MediaWise and AARP are joining forces to educate citizens on identifying misinformation and providing voting resources that they can use and share with their communities. These trainings, also supported by Meta, come at a crucial time as midterm elections are only a few days away. By empowering communities with facts, democracy prevails.
