New director joins St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s Health Center
The St. Petersburg Free Clinic is pleased to announce that Shevette Batts has joined the organization as Health Center Director, bringing 13 years of healthcare administration experience.
In this role, Batts is responsible for overseeing the St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s Health Center and ensuring optimum performance of programs, volunteers and staff for high-quality patient care. The Free Clinic’s Health Center provides basic health and wellness services – from health screenings to general care to specialty care – for thousands of low-income, uninsured adults in Pinellas County each year at no cost to the patient. The Center also provides chronic disease management, health education and dental care.
“Shevette’s extensive background in a variety of medical settings will help the Health Center continue to refine its processes, which helps our staff and volunteers provide exceptional patient care resulting in demonstrably better health outcomes,” said Beth Houghton, executive director of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. “We also know that Shevette will bring the focus and skills to enhance our entire community’s health as we collaborate with other local organizations.”
Batts joins the St. Petersburg Free Clinic after serving as Director of Physician Practice Operations for Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, North Carolina. She oversaw day-to-day operations of over 10 primary and specialty care physician practices.
Batts formerly held administrative and operations roles with community health centers such as Advance Community Health in Raleigh, North Carolina and Florida Community Health Center in Fort Pierce, Florida.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Barry University and is currently pursuing an MBA from Strayer University.
