Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Wraps Up Year-Long Centennial Celebration

The Rotary Club of St. Petersburg turned 100 on January 2, 2020. As part of the year-long Centennial celebration, the club provided over $133,000 for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic to purchase food for the We Help Food Pantry to meet the increased needs of the community during the pandemic.

Today, during a check presentation to the Free Clinic, the club also rededicated the refurbished William Straub memorial marker in Straub Park with members of the Straub Family in attendance. The DeVicente Family represents the great and great great grandchildren of Mr. Straub.

The club was founded by former St. Petersburg Times editor, William Straub and other community leaders, and was one of the first 200 clubs chartered by Rotary International (today there are over 35,000 clubs worldwide).
