SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival announces Title Sponsor
Bringing more than a dozen new murals and artful Bright Spots to our City of the Arts, the SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival returns for its fourth year October 6-14, 2018 showcasing colorful and inspiring public murals by a diverse group of mural artists from around the world.
The festival, which has received widespread international attention, is an outdoor art exhibition founded with a seed grant from the Mayor’s Office Cultural Affairs and built in partnership with the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, local artists and community members. We are pleased to announce our first Title Sponsor, Salt Palm Development. Salt Palm Development is a Certified B Corp aligning purpose with profit to lead community improvement projects. From SHINE we have planned a neighborhood beautification project in collaboration with our renowned local muralists the Vitale Brothers.
“Overpasses create divides within a city, making people on one side of the overpass feel separated and different than those on the other. Dissolving and beautifying these divides brings a greater sense of unity among all St. Pete residents. What was once a blighted divide will now be an area for all to congregate and appreciate beauty,” states Jared Meyers, chairman, Salt Palm Development.
International and local artists are now being invited. Over the past three years 50 artful murals have been added to the landscape. Narrated stories behind the first two years of Shine murals may be listened to on the Arts Alliance website at https://stpeteartsalliance.org/shine-mural-festival/
SHINE continues to innovate and inspire in 2018, reflecting the region’s intensely creative spirit. To learn more about this year’s festival, please visithttps://stpeteartsalliance.org/shine-mural-festival/
