Sports Radio Host and Ex-Bucs Player Dan Sileo Re-enters Tampa Bay Sports Media Market on WWBA AM-FM
Tampa, Fla., May 27, 2025 – WWBA AM 820 today announced that nationally renowned talk show host Dan Sileo has returned to Tampa to anchor a new two-hour sports program, “The Dan Sileo Show,” that airs on the station Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to noon. The new show, which began on May 19, marks a return to Tampa for the longtime sports radio talent and former Tampa Bay Bucs player, and the show is a major talent addition to bolster WWBA’s program lineup as the leading sports radio talk show station in Tampa Bay.
“The Dan Sileo Show” is a Tampa Bay-focused sports show with a format that features a lead segment with a daily monologue on a hot sports topic of the day or interview with players, coaches, or other sports figures. The show also features commentaries on game results, player performances, draft picks, and management moves, and a call-in segment with answers to and discussions on listeners’ questions and comments.
“It’s great to be back, Tampa Bay!” said Sileo, “This has been a second home to me for a long time, a community where I’ve experienced some of my best years personally and professionally, and one of the most exciting sports markets in the nation. Our show is going to tackle the biggest and most controversial topics in Tampa Bay sports, bring big-time interviews with Bucs players and other Tampa Bay sports players, and feature the most rapid-fire, rip-roaring listener call-in segment of any talk show in the area. Tune in, Tampa Bay!”
Sileo began his career as a defensive player for the Bucs, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions after playing in college for the then-top-ranked Miami Hurricanes, in the 1980s. After retiring from football, in the 1990s, he began his radio career as a sports talk show host in San Francisco before moving to Tampa as a morning host for radio station 620 WDAE, in 1998. He later became a host for a national audience on the Fox Sports Radio Network and then as a host for Orlando radio station WYGM 740, with his own show. In 2014, he relocated to the radio station 1090 XEPRS, in San Diego, and later, in 2020, joined a nationally syndicated radio show on USA Radio Network.
“Tampa Bay sports talk radio will be taken to a new level with the Dan Sileo Show,” said Bruce Maduri, president and CEO, Genesis Communications, and CEO, WWBA 820. “The combination of Dan, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Bubba the Love Sponge, from 6 to 10 a.m., will pack a one-two punch of star power, compelling commentary, breaking news, exclusive interviews, and fast-paced call-in segments that will define WWBA 820 as the center of entertainment radio for Tampa Bay.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring a big-name personality like Dan Sileo to join our roster of other talk show hosts, like Rich Eisen, Jim Rome, and, of course, Bubba the Love Sponge,” said Brad James, vice president, programming and operations, Genesis Communications. “Dan is a rare talent who combines the experience of a former NFL player, a former college player for the then-champion Miami Hurricanes, and a nationally proven sports talk show host in different markets across the country. He uniquely knows what players go through and what fans want to know, and he brings that together in his own fast, furious, and funny style.”
