The initiative aims to provide youth with opportunities to develop athletic skills while building the confidence, character, and leadership abilities needed to succeed both on and off the court. Through training, mentorship, and a commitment to excellence, SPHA seeks to help young athletes discover their potential and become strong, purpose-driven leaders.
“Investing in our young people means investing in the future of our community,” said Michael Lundy, SPHA President & CEO. “Through this initiative, we are creating opportunities for youth to develop important life skills, build confidence, and learn the value of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. We encourage our community partners and supporters to join us in helping these young athletes reach their full potential.”
More Than a Game:
The Youth Basketball and Cheerleading Initiative focuses on developing skilled athletes and strong leaders by fostering five core values:
– Teamwork & Sportsmanship: Encouraging collaboration, respect, and positive relationships.
– Character & Perseverance: Building resilience, discipline, and a commitment to personal growth.
– Leadership & Integrity: Developing responsible young leaders who demonstrate honesty and accountability.
– Confidence & Personal Growth: Helping youth recognize their strengths and build self-esteem.
– Purpose & Community Pride: Inspiring young people to contribute positively to their communities.
SPHA believes that sports can serve as a powerful platform for youth development, providing participants with meaningful experiences that extend beyond athletic competition.
Community Support Makes a Difference:
SPHA is seeking donations to help support its young basketball players and cheerleaders as they learn, grow, and work toward a brighter future. Contributions will support the initiative’s mission of providing youth with opportunities for athletic development, mentorship, and leadership growth.
Donations are made through the RISE Development Corporation, the nonprofit arm of SPHA.
Community members interested in supporting the initiative can scan the QR code featured on the fundraising flyer or contact SPHA Social Services at So************@******HA.org for additional information.
Together, the community can help create opportunities for young people to thrive, develop valuable life skills, and build a foundation for future success.
