Tampa Bay’s Only Sensory-Friendly Science Festival – April 5
Sensational SciFest: Tampa Bay’s Only Sensory-Friendly Science Festival returns on April 5th
Tampa, Florida – April 5, 2025 – Sensational SciFest, a groundbreaking science festival designed for children with sensory sensitivities, is coming to Tampa Bay on April 5, 2025. Hosted by Scientists Inc, a local science education nonprofit, in partnership with CARD-USF (Center for Autism and Related Disabilities), YES! of America United, and local scientists, this event reimagines science exploration to prioritize the needs of neurodivergent children.
Unlike traditional festivals, Sensational SciFest offers a sensory-friendly environment where children can engage in hands-on science activities, including art and chemistry experiments, without the overwhelming lights, crowds, or noises. Partner booths will also provide resources and support services for families of neurodivergent children.
To ensure every child feels comfortable, the event will feature:
CARD-trained volunteers and demonstrators to provide a supportive and understanding environment.
A quiet room for children who need a break from stimulation.
A sensory room equipped with tools and activities for children seeking sensory input or regulation.
“Sensational SciFest is a testament to the power of collaboration, community, and compassion,” explains Dr. Parmvir Bahia, CEO of Scientists Inc. “By prioritizing the needs of neurodiverse children, this event is poised to create ripples of positive change, fostering a more inclusive and welcoming world of science exploration.”
