Studies show that the number 1 reason people leave companies is their direct boss. It’s not money as the leading reason. In the 1,000’s of team surveys I have done over the last 30 plus years, money is always in the bottom 1/2 of what motivates. Involvement and feeling of appreciation are always at the top. So if you’re having a hard time attracting people look first at how well you’re doing with the 1st 2 dimensions I just shared. One of the crazy things I have done for years with my folks I help is get their team members a box of 500 business cards and then have their direct leader give them personally. I have had folks cry in front of me saying it’s the 1st time anyone has ever cared about them like that.
