Trenam Shareholder Paul Bain Selected to Serve on the Florida Commission on Ethics
August 7, 2024 – Tampa, Fla. – Trenam Law is pleased to announce that Tampa-based Shareholder Paul D. Bain has been selected to serve on The Florida Commission on Ethics. Bain was appointed by Paul Renner, Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. His two-year term as one of the Commission’s nine members will last through June 30, 2026.

The Florida Commission on Ethics is composed of nine members appointed to serve two-year terms, along with a staff of approximately twenty-five employees located in Tallahassee. It serves as the guardian of the standards of conduct for officers and employees of Florida and its political subdivisions. The Commission functions as an independent body responsible for investigating and issuing public reports on complaints alleging breach of the public trust by public officers and employees. It also renders legally binding advisory opinions interpreting the ethics laws and implements the state’s financial disclosure laws.
At Trenam, Paul Bain represents land and business owners across the state of Florida when their property is taken for public projects. For over 30 years, he has represented people and businesses in eminent domain, inverse condemnation, and property rights litigation in state and federal courts. His clients have over 200,000 acres of property and over 5,000 locations throughout the state and include large and small landowners and business owners. A recognized leader in his practice, Bain has served on the Eminent Domain Committees for The Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County Bar Association for over 30 years, and he was selected for the Florida Trend Legal Elite Hall of Fame in 2023.
Bain earned his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his undergraduate degree from John B. Stetson University.
