The Catalyst is taking two days off for the Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday and Friday, which means the weekly Weekend Arts Forecast is coming out a day early.

Hello, Wednesday!

It’s actually a pretty show weekend for arts, culture and entertainment, what with everybody attending to family time and the rituals of a holiday celebration, but things are far from dead.

Concerts

Rapper/singer Doja Cat, who has the No. 3 single in the country this week (“Paint the Town Red”) and the No. 14 single (“Agora Hills”) is onstage at Amalie Arena Friday. Find tickets here.

A group calling itself Legacy Reunion of Earth, Wind & Fire Alumni visits the Mahaffey Theater Friday. Be advised, this is not actually Earth, Wind & Fire. Get details here.

Long-ago teen heartthrob Shaun Cassidy plays the Capitol Theatre Friday. Although he has in recent years re-invented himself as a (successful) TV producer, Shaun’s still got rock ‘n’ roll in his soul. Tickets.

Saturday at the Capitol: Glee alumnus Darren Criss, with his Crissmas show. Tickets.

Jazz saxophonist Dave Koz, an annual visitor to Ruth Eckerd Hall, is back with his 2023 Christmas show Saturday. Guests are Jonathan Butler, Rebecca Jade and Marcus Anderson. Tickets.

The Rise Up St. Pete series returns to Spa Beach at The Pier Sunday, with reggae/rock bands Hip Abduction, Passafire, Coyote Island and Sierra Lane. Here’s the Catalyst interview with Passafire’s Ted Bowne.

Niall Horan, Teddy Swims, Zara Larsson, Doechii, Paul Russell, Kaliii and Lawrence play the annual 93.3 FLZ Jingle Ball Sunday at Amalie Arena. Tickets.

And a few more

Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México plays the music live while the Disney/Pixar film Coco screens at Ferguson Hall, in the Straz Center for the performing Arts. Performance times are 1 and 6 p.m. Sunday. Find details and tickets here.

The new American Stage show is acts of faith. It’s performed this weekend; read all about it here.

And Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play opens Friday at freeFall Theatre. Our Arts Alive! podcast (out today) features the show’s director, Matthew McGee. Find tickets here.

Happy Thanksgiving! We’ll be back Saturday.

The Weekend Arts Forecast appears every Thursday (except for this week) in the Catalyst
