Weekend spotlight: Plays, concerts and opera (week 2)

In Clearwater, TheatreFor (1863 N. Highland Ave.) opens Red Hot Patriot – The Kick Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, a one-woman show with Samantha Marti-Parisi, tonight. It runs through June 22. Showtimes and tickets are at this link.
Continuing this weekend at American Stage: The outstanding production of James Ijames’ Pulitzer Prize-winner Fat Ham (showtimes and tickets here). Two stars of the show, Deimoni Brewington and Andresia Moseley, will be our guests Friday on the Arts Alive! podcast.
Desiree Montes continues to shine as Billie Holiday in Stageworks Theatre’s production of the one-woman show Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill (showtimes and tickets here).

Concerts
The costumed Swedish metal band Ghost brings its “Skeletour” to Amalie Arena tonight at 8:30. Tickets are at this link.
It’s Nikki Glaser time. The comedian’s four shows at the Mahaffey Theater (tonight and Friday) are sold out. She trucks up to St. Augustine Saturday, but returns to performs Sunday at the BayCare Sound amphitheater. Tickets for that show are at this link.
Rescheduled from an earlier date, Puerto Rican salsa singer Victor Manuelle performs at the Yuengling Center at 8 p.m. Friday, with La India. Tickets are at this link.
The Studio @620’s “One Night Only” concert series continues with a Saturday performance from Ari Chi, a soulful St. Pete singer/songwriter who accompanies herself on ukulele. Tickets for the intimate 7 p.m. show are available at this link.
