Banyan Cafe Banyan Cafe

Banyan Cafe’s regular patrons got nervous when founder and 10-year owner Erica Allums sold both locations to Tampa Bay Cafeine, Inc. But the busy, but not-too-busy, coffee shop hasn’t skipped a beat under new ownership. Favorite menu items, like the egg sandwich remained unaltered, while the menu expanded and added wine and beer selections for that “executive lunch.” It has a good selection of interesting sodas, kombucha and fresh orange juice if you’re not into caffeine.

Banyan not only succeeds because of quality coffee and fresh food – the seating situation is comfortable, reliable and adaptable to solo diners and small groups, so you don’t need to worry about whether there’s going to be a seat. It shares large restrooms with the Morean Arts Center, and has a downtown rarity: free parking. The Wifi is consistent, the staff is friendly and they don’t mind if you hang out all morning. With its broad appeal, Banyan Cafe is a good place to make useful connections in city government, the arts, and business.

What's special about Banyan Cafe?

"Best egg sandwich in town, hands down."

Solid coffee shop, with everything you could want to drink. The small open kitchen puts out a nice breakfast menu with fresh ingredients. Egg sandwiches, breakfast burritos, belgian waffle and great avocado toast. Limited pastry offerings. Lunch sandwich menu seems to be expanding and they’ve recently added beer and wine.
