Amgen expands Tampa center
April 23, 2020 - Amgen plans to expand its global capability center in Tampa's Westshore Business District. Amgen (Nasdaq: AMGN), one of the world's largest biotechnology companies, has signed a lease amendment to increase its footprint within Corporate Center One. The company will add 33,101-square-feet of office space. Amgen plans to spend $10 million on the expansion, which will give Amgen additional meeting and collaboration space and the ability to accommodate future growth, a news release from the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council said. Amgen chose Tampa as the site of its global capability denter in 2017, after evaluating more than 270 other communities nationwide. With this expansion, Amgen’s footprint will grow from a little over 130,000 square feet to more than 163,000 square feet in Tampa.
