Authorities pull 11-foot gator from St. Pete lake

November 3, 2023 - St. Petersburg police and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers captured two alligators Nov. 1 “who had been a nuisance” around Lake Eli and Lake Maggiore, near South St. Pete’s Dell Holmes Park. According to a social media post, the alligators were 11 feet and nine feet long, respectively. The FWC considers the reptile a nuisance if it is over four feet long and residents believe it poses a threat to people, pets or property.
