Beaches, parks get water refilling stations

December 7, 2022 - Officials with the Florida State Parks Foundation and St. Petersburg-based Duke Energy Florida announced a new partnership Tuesday. The new collaboration, unveiled at Honeymoon Island State Park, will fund the installation of 121 water bottle refilling stations at 85 state parks from Destin to the Florida Keys. According to a release, the effort will reduce the number of water bottles in landfills, trails, campsites, beaches and waterways. Duke provided a $175,000 grant, and $200,000 in funding comes from specialty license plate revenue.
