California call center company plans to close Tampa office, lay off hundreds

December 10, 2019 - Alorica Inc., a call center operator headquartered in Irvine, California, will permanently close its Tampa office on March 31, 2020. The move will result in the layoff of 482 workers, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Layoffs will begin on Feb. 9 and continue through March 27, the WARN said. Most of those losing their jobs are customer service representatives. The company did not say why it was closing the Tampa site, located at 111 U.S. Highway 301 South.
