Catalyst’s Covid-19 ZIP code map has a new look
July 29, 2020 - The St. Pete Catalyst has updated our interactive map showing confirmed cases of Covid-19 by ZIP code in Pinellas County. The map (click here) now gives a better representation of the outbreak in Pinellas. The Catalyst has been tracking this information since the Florida Department of Health initially released total cases by ZIP code, based on an individual's home address, in early April. The health department updates the total cases by ZIP code daily, and we update our map each afternoon to show those new totals. Our map visually displays the total number of cases in a range of shades of white, pink and red, along with providing the exact number of confirmed cases in each ZIP code. With the growing number of cases in the county, we have now increased the numeric range of cases represented by each color. The map now more clearly shows a concentration of cases in the southern end of Pinellas as well as part of Clearwater. The state health department only releases total confirmed cases since the pandemic began and does not report numbers for people who are newly tested or who are currently sick or have recovered.
