City and USF launch composting initiative
August 18, 2026 - The City of St. Petersburg and the University of South Florida have installed an industrial-sized composter at USF's St. Petersburg campus "to process food waste and produce nutrient-rich compost for the community," according to a prepared statement. The initiative will "start as a sustainability project to reduce food waste from the campus’ dining facility in the first year."
