Clearwater deploys mosquitofish to combat dengue

Clearwater released 10,000 mosquitofish into four lakes Friday as part of the region’s response to rising dengue cases, with another 31,000 fish slated for other waterways. The native minnow can eat up to 100 mosquito larvae a day and were deployed after Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties declared states of emergency over the mosquito-borne disease.
