Cold night shelters activating in Pinellas County

January 27, 2022 - Due to frigid temperatures settling into the region this weekend, the Homeless Leadership Alliance announced Pinellas County is opening cold night shelters. The cold night shelters open on Friday, Jan. 28, and Saturday, Jan. 29. The shelters open between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and accept guests from opening until the shelters are full. Many sites offer a meal, and all provide a warm and safe place to sleep. Shelters activate when the National Weather Service expects temperatures to drop to 40 or below. The following shelters are open to both men and women: Clearwater: The Refuge Outreach Church, 606 Alden Avenue. First United Methodist Church of Clearwater, 411 Turner Street. Pinellas Park: Boys & Girls Club of the Suncoast in Pinellas Park, 7790 61st Street North. St. Petersburg: Northwest Presbyterian Church, 6330 54th Ave. North. Salvation Army, 1400 4th Street South. The Turning Point, 1810 5th Ave. North.
