Collins cruises in first-round match at Miami Open

March 24, 2021 - Danielle Collins, a rising star on the Women’s Tennis Association tour who grew up in St. Petersburg, won her first-round match at the 2021 Miami Open today, posting a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kristina Mladenovic of France, who’s ranked No. 6 in the world. Collins, ranked No. 40, won 82.1 percent of her service points and converted six out of eight break points en route to the convincing win over Mladenovic. Next up for Collins is 25th-ranked Veronika Kudermetova of Russia.
