DeSantis extends eviction, foreclosure moratorium

June 30, 2020 - Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis once again has extended the state moratorium on evictions and foreclosures. DeSantis issued an executive order Tuesday night, just hours before an earlier extension was set to expire on July 1. The moratorium now is in effect until 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 1. Foreclosures and evictions have been on hold in Florida since early April, when the state's unemployment rolls started to swell as businesses closed or cut back operations in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. The governor's office sent out a press notice about the most recent extension with no comment from DeSantis. See the executive order here.
