Food service operator says layoffs in Tampa longer than expected

July 15, 2020 - Delaware North, a Buffalo, New York-based food service and hospitality firm, said hundreds of workers in Tampa and throughout Florida will be out of their jobs longer than originally planned because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company put full-time associates on a temporary leave and part-time associates on a temporary layoff beginning in March. The job actions were intended to be less than six months, but the pandemic has gone on longer than predicted, the company said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The WARN listed 592 jobs at Tampa Sportservice Inc. at Amalie Arena and another 192 jobs at TPA Hospitality Partners LLC at Tampa Airport Marriott that are impacted. The company said in the WARN that the situation is evolving and it would recall associates as business resumes.
