Homeless advocates urge PSTA to keep the SunRunner free
August 21, 2023 - Officials with the Homeless Leadership Alliance and Pinellas Continuum of Care (CoC) are urging the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) to continue offering free SunRunner fares. Clearwater City Councilmember Kathleen Beckman, chair of the CoC, stated that even a small fee “could disproportionately affect marginalized communities." In addition, the organizations believe that requiring electronic payment excludes those without credit or debit cards or access to technology.
