Local historians, community leaders earn a Key to the City

August 19, 2021 - Gwendolyn Reece and Jon Wilson have been awarded a Key to the City during the city council meeting on Thursday. Wilson is a lifelong journalist and was a former editorial writer and editor at the StPetersburg Times. Reese is President of the African American Heritage Association of St. Petersburg. She’s part of the Black Health Equity Alliance, an organization dedicated to addressing inequities related to birth outcomes and maternal and child health through policy and legislation. Additionally, Reece has been instrumental in creating a virtual tour of the African American Heritage Trail and adding QR codes to its historical markers. Wilson is also playing a major part in the virtual experience of the trial.
