Renee Edwards, founder of the Saturday Shoppes, announced that her market and festivals will move from Tropicana Field to Pinellas Technical College as the stadium suffered significant storm damage. The new location is at 901 34th St. S. The first Shoppes event at the college is a Fall Jazz & Seafood Fest from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Nov. 2.
California-based Prenuvo, a medical technology startup that offers full-body MRI scans for roughly $2,500, is opening its first Tampa Bay location in downtown St. Petersburg. Prenuvo recently leased 5,600 square feet at the Sundial, an open-air shopping plaza undergoing renovations. The company’s full-body MRI scans can help detect cancer and hundreds of other health conditions.
The City of St. Petersburg is now accepting applications for the Mayor’s Future Ready Academy. The program provides on-the-job training and classroom instruction to help prepare participants for vital positions within the city. Cadets receive $15.99 hourly and benefits. Mayor Ken Welch announced Wednesday that a St. Petersburg-focused hurricane relief fund is approaching $1 million. City stakeholders have raised nearly $829,000 for the We Are St. Pete Fund since it launched in Hurricane Helene’s aftermath. The Pinellas Community Foundation will disburse the money to support residents, small businesses and city employees impacted by Helene and Hurricane Milton.
Florida Lottery officials announced Monday that a Gulfport resident claimed the $2 million top prize from a 100X The Cash scratch-off ticket. Jesse Robinson, 49, chose to receive a $1.28 million lump sum payment weeks after the coastal community was decimated by back-to-back hurricanes. The Gulfport Market at 5800 28th Ave. S. sold the winning ticket and received a $4,000 bonus.

Researchers credited Tampa Bay’s weather, beaches and a “robust” U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health network. Tampa International Airport and Delta Air Lines officials celebrated the return of nonstop daily service to Amsterdam with a launch party Saturday. They also announced that the airline would extend the seasonal service by two months, through May 2025. Delta previously provided the nonstop route Amsterdam in 2019.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies collected 533.7 pounds of prescription medication Saturday. Operation Medicine Cabinet is an ongoing initiative that helps prevent children from accidentally ingesting pharmaceutical drugs and raise awareness about abuse. Officials will properly dispose of collected medication to keep it from reaching the aquifer or local waterways.
The Pinellas County School Board will vote Tuesday on the proposed make-up days for the 50 school hours lost because of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The dates were tentatively approved Oct. 23.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg recently offloaded $115 million worth of cocaine and marijuana at their home port after a 38-day anti-smuggling operation. Service members seized 9,690 pounds of cocaine and 5,490 pounds of marijuana. The crew also apprehended five suspected smugglers.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opened mobile registration units Saturday morning in St. Petersburg and Madeira Beach to help Pinellas County residents receive a free temporary tarp through Operation Blue Roof. St. Petersburg’s center is at 2500 34th St. N., and the Madeira Beach location is at 15200 Municipal Drive. The facilities are open from 8:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. through Tuesday. The local program sunsets Nov. 5.
