
Pinellas County reports largest one-day increase in COVID-19 deaths
July 14, 2020 - The Florida Department of Health reported 26 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pinellas County on Tuesday. It was the largest one-day increase in COVID-19 deaths in Pinellas since the state began reporting county statistics in early March. There were a total of 262 COVID-19 deaths in Pinellas as of Tuesday morning, compared to 236 deaths on Monday. Seven of the most recently reported deaths occurred in late June, but were not reported until today. The others occurred between July 1 and July 9, according to a health department report. One of the youngest victims in the most recently reported deaths was a 41-year-old man, and one of the oldest was a 93-year-old man. As of Tuesday, there were a total of 11,754 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pinellas since early March, an increase of 312 cases since Monday. The positivity rate for the most recent test results on Monday was 10.2 percent.
