Pinellas rental help program launches Wednesday

March 30, 2021 - Pinellas County has $21.4 million to help renters avoid Covid-19 related evictions. Starting March 31, renters in the county can apply for help if they've lost a job or experienced financial hardship due to the pandemic. Eligible applicants must have a household income at or below 80 percent of the area median income; that's $39,400 for a single-person household and $56,250 for a household of four. Funds will cover missed rent payments as well as up to 12 months of future rent costs. The program is designed to stabilize housing and provide greater peace of mind to the most vulnerable renters and their landlords, according to a news release from the county. Eligible Pinellas County residents can apply starting Wednesday at 8 a.m. on the County’s Covid-19 website at www.bit.ly/pc-rent.
