Pivot to PPE positions Superior for gains

July 29, 2020 - Superior Group of Companies posted a 73 percent increase in sales for the second quarter of 2020. Superior (Nasdaq: SGC), headquartered in Seminole and with divisions focused on uniforms and apparel, promotional products and call centers, reported $159.4 million in net sales for the three months ended June 30, compared to $92.3 million in sales in the same period a year ago. Net income was $15.2 million, or $1 a share, compared to $2.8 million, or 18 cents a share, for the second quarter of 2019. In a news release, Michael Benstock, CEO, credited a successful pivot to personal protective equipment, in addition to legacy healthcare products, which are in high demand during the Covid-19 pandemic.
