Poynter to honor Katie Couric

July 10, 2019 - Katie Couric will receive the 2019 Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism from the Poynter Institute.  The award honors those whose journalism careers have made a significant impact on democracy and its institutions, Poynter said. Couric was an anchor on NBC's The Today Show and the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric before founding Katie Couric Media. Poynter will also honor Norman Pearlstine, executive editor of the Los Angeles Times, with the 2019 Distinguished Service to Journalism Award. The awards will be presented at Poynter's Bowtie Ball on Nov. 2 at the Vinoy in St. Petersburg.
