Prescribed burn at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Wednesday

The City of St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with the Kissimmee Valley Foresters, will be conducting a prescribed fire at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Wednesday. The burn will begin around 10 a.m. and partial trail closures are anticipated until 6:30 p.m. Depending on weather conditions, 62 acres of the 245-acre preserve are scheduled to be burned. According to the City, prescribed fires have both land management and environmental benefits, including protection from hazardous fires.
