Private equity owner sells Tampa tech firm AVI-SPL

April 7, 2020 - H.I.G. Capital has completed the sale of AVI-SPL,  a digital workplace services provider headquartered in Tampa. The deal was first reported by the St. Pete Catalyst in February. H.I.G.,  a Miami-based private equity investment firm, sold AVI-SPL to Marlin Equity Partners, a global investment firm based in Los Angeles. Marlin with merge AVI-SPL with Whitlock, an affiliate of Marlin focused on workplace collaboration solutions, resulting in $1.3 billion of pro forma 2019 revenue. H.I.G. will retain a minority stake in the combined entity, a news release said. “This is a very exciting new chapter for our dompany and a strong endorsement for AVI-SPL and our highly talented team," said John Zettel, AVI's CEO.
