Seacoast Bank plans leadership changes

June 15, 2020 - There's a new president at Seacoast Banking Corp. of Florida. Charles "Chuck" Schaffer, who was executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, was promoted to president and COO. Shaffer will become CEO and a member of the board of directors in December 2020. At that time, the bank's current CEO and chairman, Dennis Hudson III, will become executive chairman of the board. It's part of a succession plan outlined in a news release by the Stuart, Florida-based bank, which has a growing presence in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. The bank also promoted Tracey Dexter from controller to executive vice president and chief financial officer, and promoted Jennings Walker from treasurer to executive vice president, treasurer and director of corporate strategy. Seacoast (Nasdaq: SBCF) has agreed to buy Freedom Bank in St. Petersburg in a deal now expected to close in the third quarter of 2020.
