Silver Airways lays off Tampa workers
August 6, 2020 - Silver Airways will lay off 55 workers based at Tampa International Airport effective Oct. 1. The company did not give a reason for the layoff in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification sent to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, but it is one of several companies in the travel and hospitality industry that have seen business negatively impacted during the Covid-19 pandemic. The privately owned company also notified the state that it would lay off 79 workers in Fort Lauderdale and 90 workers in Orlando.
