Slower job gains hit key Florida industry
May 20, 2019 - Despite overall job gains in Florida, employment in tourism-related industries has slowed in recent months. A May 17 report from Wells Fargo Securities Economics Group said hiring has slowed at restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions. The slowdown possibly reflects the state’s ever-tightening labor market and the inability of hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions to find all the workers they would like to hire, the report said. Florida’s unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage point to 3.4 percent in April.
