St. Pete church delivers over 545 Thanksgiving meals thanks to community help

November 23, 2021 - As food insecurity continues to plague families across the bay area, one local church is doing its part to make sure everyone can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers from the Radius Church in St. Petersburg spent Monday delivering Thanksgiving meals to local families. The original goal was to feed 500 families, and thanks to a social media post that inspired more donations, the church was able to go well beyond an already high bar. Pastor Blake Clark told Spectrum News 9 that volunteers delivered 545 full meals in less than an hour. The meals consisted of turkey, sides and pie, and all items were donated by the surrounding community. According to Feeding America, one out eight people in the U.S. may experience food insecurity.
