St. Pete Pier named 2020’s second best new attraction in the country by USA Today

January 4, 2021 - The St. Petersburg Pier was named the second best new attraction of 2020 in USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice awards. Coming in as a runner up to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Pier beat out other new attractions including the National Native American Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and the MassArt Art Museum in Boston. In a tweet, Mayor Rick Kriseman wrote "My thanks to everyone who voted for the@StPetePier. For the sake of our democracy, I accept these results. I do not believe this contest was rigged or stolen. I pledge to work with the winner to ensure we succeed as American attractions moving forward." A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to pick the initial nominees and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote.
