St. Pete police, FDOT partner on safe driving initiative

June 2, 2025 - The St. Petersburg Police Department, in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation District Seven (Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties) will expand law enforcement presence on state roadways with high crash rates, increasing public awareness of the importance of safe driving. The program took effect June 1 and will continue through Feb. 28, 2026. Additionally, first responders will be giving educational presentations to schools within District Seven, particularly those with Driver Education classes.
