Storm-toppled crane removed from St. Pete building

October 24, 2024 - A tower craned wedged into a downtown St. Petersburg office building for nearly two weeks was removed Wednesday afternoon. Hurricane Milton’s gust toppled the massive equipment, part of the Residences at 400 Central luxury condominium construction site, into a neighboring office building at 490 1st Ave. S. Lincoln Property Group, the building’s owner, will now reassess the viability of reconstruction. Work at 400 Central resumed Oct. 16.
