Tampa Bay ranks second nationally for grocery cost increases

April 16, 2025 - A SmartAsset report released Tuesday found that grocery prices in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area increased by 4.3% year-over-year, the nation's second-highest spike. Honolulu, at 5.3%, ranked first. Tampa Bay residents now pay 7.8% more for eggs, meats and poultry, and an additional 5.3% for cereals and bakery products.
