Tampa data analytics firm raises $5 million

July 5, 2019 - Lumina Analytics LLC has raised $5 million. The funding will be used for the Radiance operating platform as well as its sales and marketing initiatives, a statement from the company said. "We will continue to grow our team here and in Washington, D.C., with a focus on expanding our clients in the education, government, finance and aviation industries," the statement said. Eighteen investors participated in the capital raise, receiving equity and options, according to a July 3 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Existing investors, including investment funds and individuals, as well as team members  participated in the most recent funding round. Lumina, based in Tampa, combines advanced computing techniques with human analysis to identify potentially catastrophic threats and risks, with a focus on security issues. The company launched S4, a crowd-sourced mobile app designed to protect communities, earlier this year.
