Tampa International gets high-tech scanner
May 22, 2019 - Tampa International Airport is one of about a dozen airports in the United States where the Transportation Security Administration is testing computerized tomography scanners at screening checkpoints. The CT scanners, with the same technology hospitals use to screen patients, is designed to better detect prohibited items in carry-on luggage. The technology also can speed up the screening by allowing passengers to leave electronic devices in bags. The scanner at TIA is at Airside C.
