Tampa leads nation in heat wave frequency
June 6, 2023 - According to a recent report by Usafacts.org using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) data, Tampa has seen the nation’s sharpest spike in heat wave frequency. The EPA defines heat waves as two or more days where the temperature is “abnormally and uncomfortably hot” and “outside the historical averages for a given area.” In addition to frequency, Tampa’s heat wave “season” has gained 92 days since 1961, the third-most in the country.
