Tampa receives $4.6 million to address youth homelessness
September 21, 2023 - After six attempts to secure a portion of a $60 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help end youth homelessness, the Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative has now secured $4.6 million. THHI was awarded the funding through HUD’s Youth Homelessness Demonstration initiative, which aims to construct housing units, wrap-around services and housing support, according to an announcement this week. Tampa is one of 16 communities nationwide that has been granted funds from HUD.
